Sjerko and Becca walked onto the practice track. The filly’s mane was long and whisky in need of a desperate cut, which would be given later. The mare’s tail was braided like she had gone to a horse show. The filly was lanky, her thin body rested on normal legs looking like a thoroughbred body with quarter horse legs. The filly hadn’t worn the racing saddle for a month and was like a new born foal yet to be touched as she bucked twice with Rebecca mounted on holding on to the filly’s mane.
Soon they were off at a springy trot slowly moving around the track as they pasted the 1/8 mile pole Rebecca pulled her back to a walks and moved to the outside as other great horses galloped by whisping the filly’s striding looking like a old horse running in a race full of experienced two year olds. The filly was really actually only two years old and lost her first race meaning another maiden race. The filly slowly caught into step with a small herd of thoroughbreds on the inside doing a brisk gallop that was pretty slow and the filly half reared while still moving not even jolting Sam a little bit.

Elizabeth Franks sat tall in the saddle as she walked Starstruck Angel out to the open track. She gently patted Star on her shoulder, whispering words of encouragement to the anxious mare. This would be the duo's first day at this here facility, and Star was very jittery. Elizabeth soothed her, rubbing her neck and whispering. She gathered up the reins, and sent Star into an easy trot.
Star looked around, feeling anxious and excited. A new home! thoughts raced through her mind. She sidestepped as a horse whizzed past, not close to the rail at all. Star laid her ears back and let out a blaring shriek as fear filled her. She stomped and snorted, grinding her teeth and swishing her tail.
Elizabeth leaned foreward and clutched her mare's reins and mane as she reared. "Woa girl!" she said, trying to calm down her freightened filly. She dismounted and stood in front of her horse, pulling gently on the reins. "Easy girl, easy." she cooed, stroking Star's forehead. Pale white hairs swirled into a star on the bright chestnut fur of Elizabeth's horse. Elizabeth stood there, stroking and patting, whispering and cooing to Star until she felt the two-year old relax. "There's a good girl." she said as she mounted again. She gathered up the leather reins and urged her mare into a trot, carefully watching the other horses around the track. When she felt it was safe enough, she sat deep in the saddle and cued Star to canter. The two breezed around the track, Elizabeth still eying the rail.
Star felt much better after Elizabeth remounted. She now started to feel excitement welling inside her powerful chest as they went into a steady canter. She wanted to run! She nickered softly, trying to lengthen her stride.
Elizabeth knew Star wanted to run, but it wasn't time yet. She let Star canter a while longer, then crouched down. She bent foreward and let her arms moved in rythem with Star's neck. She waited, then showed Star the crop. She felt Star's energy bubble right into the saddle as the mare let out her powerful stride and went into a blazing gallop. She stretched out her neck, whinnying and snorting as her stride grew longer and faster with every second. Elizabeth giggled inwardly, but stayed focused on the track ahead of her. She knew Star could do more. She patted the filly's neck, urging her on. She let her go.
Star's stride accelerated even more as she burned up the track behind her, tossing her golden head a little as she blazed down the stretch.
Elizabeth knew Star needed to graze a bit, so she slowed Star to a brisk trot, and started cooling her out.

Elizabeth brought Star to the edge of the track, pleased with their work. Now she knew Star wasn't just regarding her as a passenger anymore, but as a partner. This was a major breakthrough, considering how secluded and angry the filly was only a few months ago. Now the mare seemed as if she had known Elizabeth forever. Elizabeth dismounted, and started to untack Star. Elizabeth's attention was drawn to a dark bay colt, jittery and had a wild look in his eyes. The girl on top of him remained calm and urged him into a gallop. Elizabeth respected the rider for being so steady, but the horse was still in a jittery phase. Elizabeth wondered if she would get a chance to say hello after the duo were finished riding.

The dark bay looking filly half reared near the outside now almost hitting the outside rail. About 100 meters away from the girl and the other horse the filly reared three more times before the jockey whispered to her and then turned her in small circles like a western barrel horse. The girl slowly stroked her neck and then tried getting her to the rail and finally did and then rubbed her neck before asking for a canter the filly’s stride was huge for such a short little girl.
The filly had a gift that was yet to be seen.

Elizabeth watched in amazement at the beautiful filly's stride. it was long and powerful, a real racehorse stride. She rubbed her chin with her fingers, pondering. She will make a champion yet! I wonder what would happen if our horses raced eachother? Elizabeth felt a nudge on her shoulder. She turned to see the big brown eyes of Star staring right at her, her nose still nudging Elizabeth. "Ok, fine." she laughed, then remounted. Star wanted to run, and Elizabeth knew she could. She urged Star into a steady trot, holding her back. The girl and filly were on the other side of the track, at an easy canter. Elizabeth waited patiently.
